Once again, the tobacco industry’s only pan-European distribution-retail show was a smashing success.
On May 14, 2006,
tobacco industry professionals from all over Europe, as well as from Russia and the Former Soviet Republics, the Baltic and Balkan countries, Turkey and the Near and Middle East, gathered together to walk the halls of Syma Hall in Budapest, Hungary. They were there to attend EuroTab 2006, which proved to be a comprehensive showcase of tobacco products and accessories for the pan-European audience.
EuroTab 2006-Budapest built upon the success of EuroTab 2002-Prague and EuroTab 2004-Krakow, and attracted more than 1400 industry members from over 50 nations.
“People obviously like our idea of having a Pan-European exhibition for the tobacco industry’s retail-distribution segment,” said Robert Lockwood, president of Lockwood Publications, publishers of Distribution International, Tobacco International, Tobacco Asia, Smoke and Smokeshop magazines. “Although distribution systems vary from country to country, slowly but surely tobacco distribution and availability to tobacco products are becoming more Pan-European and international. EuroTab seeks to be at the forefront of this movement.”
Visitors to Eurotab were greatly pleased because the exhibition hall was filled with products from around the world, many of them new to the European market.
Exhibitors were also greatly pleased because the key decision makers came — importers, distributors, retailers and chain store managers from Eastern & Western Europe, the Balkans, the CIS countries and the Near & Middle East.
Asked if there would be another EuroTab in the future, Lockwood replied, “Definitely. We’re scheduling it for the spring of 2008 and the host city will be Warsaw, Poland. Warsaw was the overwhelming favorite when we polled our exhibitors. We’ll be announcing the official show dates and providing all the details in the months to come.”
